Message from Dr. Gage:

Halloween is coming in a few weeks.  Montrose will celebrate it with a parade and parties on Monday, Oct 31st.  This is the same day as Bexley’s Trick or Treat night.  Lunch will be at the regular hours between 11:45 and 12:50.  Students will need to have a note from home in order to leave school for lunch.  If students are going home for lunch, please have a plan on where you are meeting them.  If they have a note, you do not need to sign them out in the office.  Students who return before 12:50 from lunch will go to recess.

• 11:45 – K and 5th grade at lunch

• 11:57 – 1st grade at lunch

• 12:05 – 2 and 4 at lunch

• 12:25 – 3 and 6 at lunch

• 1:30 – Parade – in case of rain the parade will be in the gym

• Classroom parties begin after the parade

Because this is an elementary school event with young children attending, please help your student make a good choice regarding their Halloween costume.  We ask the student to follow these guidelines:

• No weapons (guns, ammo, swords, or knives)

• No costumes or masks with blood

• School dress code rules still apply

Any questionable costume will be referred to the school principal, who will determine whether it is appropriate or not.  Costumes deemed inappropriate will not be allowed.

If you are planning on volunteering in your child’s classroom, be sure to contact the classroom Room Parent.  The Room Parents will be providing the office with a list of parents who will be volunteering in the classroom during the party.  This facilitates an expedited check-in for parents entering the building.  Please come to the Main Entrance to check in and receive your visitor sticker.  As a reminder, siblings are not allowed to attend the party due to space constraints.

Cardboard of all shapes and sizes was used to create cool art on the Montrose Playground on Saturday, October 8, 2016.

It was a beautiful morning of creativity and play, as kids young and old used their imagination to come up with all sorts of things to construct from cardboard.

Thanks to the Montrose PTO, Columbus Museum of Art, Bexley City Schools and Lowe’s for their support of this great day. Special thanks, of course, goes to Emily Reiser, the wonderful art teacher at Montrose.
